Our Pandemic Era Report
Our Pandemic Era Report | 2020-2021
For over ten years, Partners in Prevention has worked to increase awareness of the effects of child abuse and neglect while expanding opportunities to access prevention and support services. Donations like yours have allowed us to develop new paths to prevent the abuse of children. Your support has made possible the growth of our programs, allowing us to expand existing campaigns while simultaneously creating new tools and programming to reach a wider audience.
Covid-19 created danger and uncertainty in the lives of many. Isolation made mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect much more difficult, and life for those in dangerous home situations became even less safe. We are relieved that most children have now been able to return to in-person education and socialization, though staying safe continues to be challenging for many.
During the pandemic, we pivoted to provide plenty of online offerings so that those isolated at home could find and make use of our resources. Below are brief descriptions of our programming during this challenging pandemic period. Click here to read the full Pandemic Era Report.
PIPSPEAK PREVENTION NEWS & UPDATES
PIPSpeaks proved to be some of our most valuable tools in reaching adults and kids during this period to share important tools, news updates, safety information, and actions people can take in their own communities. Between March 2020 and December 2021, we sent out 30 PIPSpeaks! We also expanded our offerings to include a variety of categories, including:
PIP News & Updates | Our original PIPSpeak category, which includes abuse and prevention-related news items, new prevention resources, and more!
The Helpers Series | Information about and for people who are actively helping kids and families stay safe. Look here for tips on how you can help kids in your community!
The Advocacy Series | Information about policy actions, lawsuits, and political conversations around child safety. Look here to lend your voice to larger questions about child safety and how that plays out in culture-at-large.
KIDSpeak Series | A series is designed especially for kids! Kids can come here to learn safety lessons via fun, engaging visuals and easy-to-read text.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS
We rolled out substantial social campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter during this era, posting 150+ times on each platform over the course of the pandemic era, and building a committed, engaged following online. Posts included fun and engaging material for kids, informative stories and resources for parents, teachers and community members, educational videos, highlights of PIPSpeaks, children’s art, donor thank yous, back to school tips, reposts from allies, news stories, seasonal messages, and much more.
APRIL 2021 AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: ADULTS LIKE US
We believe that recognizing and reporting abuse is the responsibility of all adults. For April 2021 Child Abuse Prevention Month, we launched the ‘Adults Like Us’ campaign, which encouraged all adults in the community—not only mandated reporters—to learn the signs of abuse, the tools to react appropriately, and to report abuse and neglect to the proper agencies.
To better equip adults to recognize and report abuse, we created a new Adults Like Us one-sheet, dedicated our April 2021 Newsletter to the campaign, added new adult education video resources to our Resource Library, and developed PIPSpeaks and social posts on the topic.
NEW TRAINING VIDEO RESOURCE LIBRARY
As mentioned, we developed adult education videos that accompanied our April 2021 campaign. But we didn’t stop there—we also created educational videos for children, developed a brand-new video section in our Resource Library, and placed these videos on our YouTube channel.
SAFETY AWARENESS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN
We are continually improving our Safety Awareness Education materials to reach more communities and share better tools, and this pandemic era was no different. To that end, we created new awareness posters for organizations that serve children, new language translations for our materials including Cherokee, Pashto and Urdu (materials are now available in 22 languages), an updated Materials Usage Guide to help our partners use our materials most effectively, and new educator partnerships.
GIFT OF PARTNERSHIP CAMPAIGN
At the end of 2021, we rolled out a Gift of Partnership Campaign to subscribers, inviting donors to give a partnership to a loved one for the holiday season. We developed three partnership levels to suit all financial needs, and followed up each gift with a note to both the donor and the receiver of the gift. Partnership levels include Level 1: Community Member ($25), Level 2: Valued Partner ($75), and Level 3: Blue Ribbon Future Circle Sponsor ($250+).
We thank all of our partners for your support during this difficult era, and we look forward to sharing with you our continuing efforts to prevent abuse and neglect in 2022. Please consider making a donation today to support our work as we enter the new year. Happy New Year!
